Großvenediger 3657m Normal route ALL-IN

Description

The normal routes to the "ancient majesty" of the Großvenediger can be climbed via three huts. From the new Pragerhütte in Matrei in East Tyrol, from the Defreggerhaus or the Johannishütte in Prägraten in East Tyrol or from the Kürsingerhütte in Neukirchen am Großvenediger. Tauern Sports clearly recommends the Kürsingerhütte because this is certainly the most beautiful ascent of the Großvenediger with a view of the over 500 meter high north face. We are also happy to offer guided tours via the other two huts.

Ascent: 1,200 HM

Descent: 1,200 HM

Day 1: Meeting point Hopffeldboden and take a taxi to the Obersulzbachtal to the Kürsingerhütte cable car. From there it's about a 1.5 hour walk to the hut. The hut's cable car takes care of transporting the heavy backpack, so we arrive at the hut relaxed. After moving into camp, you will receive the rental equipment (crampons, harness, carabiners, etc.) if required, and we end the day with a situation check and tour planning.

Day 2: After breakfast we set off early to make our first contact with the glacier on the Obersulzbachkees as it gets light. Then we continue on the rope and through the mighty crevasses we finally reach the Venedigerscharte. From there we get a perfect panoramic view and see the Grossglockner for the first time. After a short rest in the sun we start the final sprint and after a short snow ridge passage we reach the summit of the Grossvenediger at over 3,657 meters. We take a short summit break on the Grossvenediger and then climb back over the Venedigerkees to the Kürsingerhütte. We pack up our things again and go down to the cable car station and take a taxi to Hopffeldboden.
