Description
Ascent of the Großvenediger 3657m including professional training for the necessary safety management on high tours and glacier rescue.
The Kürsinger glacier course is about the basics of a high-altitude tour. Everything to do with the following topics: knot tying, map reading, glacier techniques, crevasse rescues and safe walking on ice and rock. We have two days to practice rescue techniques. You should bring with you: motivation and a little stamina, everything else you can learn or borrow from us...
DURATION: 4 days Thursday to Sunday
Day 1: Meeting point at the Tauern Sports Shop, from there by car to Hopffeldboden and then by taxi to Obersulzbachtal to the Kürsingerhütte cable car. From there it's about a 2-hour walk to the hut. The hut's cable car takes care of transporting the heavy backpack, so we arrive at the hut relaxed. After moving into camp, you will receive any rental equipment you need (crampons, harness, carabiners, etc.) and we end the day with a situation check and planning for the next 2 days.
Day 2: After breakfast we set off early to make our first contact with the glacier on the Obersulzbachkees. Walking in glaciated terrain, cornerstone technique and the correct handling of the ice axe on the glacier are the first lessons. After that we go straight into a crevasse to learn the correct rescue techniques.
Day 3: The second intensive day on rock and ice. Anchoring in snow and ice as well as rescuing friends and yourself are on the agenda. Consolidation and practice, practice, practice - these are the most important points on this day.
Day 4: At the end of the course we climb the Großvenediger. The highest mountain in Salzburg, or also known as the world-old majesty, the Großvenediger is one of the most impressive mountains in the area from the north side. We are back at the Kürsingerhütte around lunchtime and from there, after a little refreshment, we head back down into the valley from where we take the hut taxi to Hopffeldboden. The days before are also planned for the climb, depending on how the weather develops on the day.
