Description
In our avalanche transceiver course you will learn everything about snow. We examine the snow cover in different exposures, carry out compression tests and learn the correct behavior in the event of an avalanche. The area around the Kitzbühel grass mountains and the Zillertal Arena has different levels of difficulty and offers a playground for every winter sports enthusiast. The tours listed below are examples and may change depending on the snow and weather conditions.
Minimum requirement:
- mastering the skiing technique in the terrain
- Condition: up to 1,000 HM per day
- Enjoy skiing or snowboarding
- Receptive to new things....
Process:
1st day: Meeting point at 07:30 for the selected tour and in the afternoon theory part with evaluations of the investigations and avalanche knowledge
Day 2: Meeting point again at 07:30 for the tour and then evaluation of the examinations
Tour examples:
Plattenkogel : We meet at the Gerlos Pass and from there we start a short ski tour along the forest towards Hinterplatte and Plattenkogel. On the snow-covered alpine meadows we often have the opportunity to look at the snow cover and analyse its structure. We then meet again in the late afternoon and deepen the practical exercises into the theory.
Ronachgeier or Gernkogel : We go to the Nadernachtal (the starting point for the tour is the Gasthof Ronach) and depending on the snow conditions we go either to the Ronachgeier or to the Gernkogel. After a 1-2 hour walk we reach the tree line and it is there that we look for weak layers in the snow and analyze the structure.
Kröndlhorn: Meeting point Gasthof Rechtegg and then we head into the picturesque Trattenbachtal. First along the forest path and then in the direction of Trattenbachgrundalm and further to the Hochalm. The area includes all exposures and so we can once again look for weak layers in the snow cover.
Steinkogel: Here too, the meeting point is above the Rechtegg inn. From there, you take the forest road towards Steineralm and then on to the Steinkogel. The gullies and hollows here are also perfect for creating different snow profiles.
